General

If you can’t remember your password, it’s easy to get a new one. Just click on Forgotten password. You will receive the password by email at the address you provided.

Your contract number is an 8-digit number. You can find it in various places. If you have documents from correspondence relating to past contracts, your can find your contract number there. The contract number is also noted in the payment reference field in our debits from your account. If you cannot find your contract number, please contact the WERTGARANTIE customer service department on +49 (0)511 71280-123 and ask for your contract number.

You can find your mandate reference (follows MREF+) here or your contract number (follows “Vertrag” (“contract”)) on your bank statement.

It is therefore not necessary to transfer these.

The IMEI is a combination of digits that uniquely identifies every mobile phone device. To find out your mobile phone’s IMEI, simply enter the key combination *#06# on your mobile phone keypad and the IMEI will display. If your device has a flight mode, please ensure this is deactivated, or the IMEI may not display. You can also find the IMEI on your device’s packaging and on the invoice or delivery note. For most devices, you can also find the IMEI on the device — in the battery compartment, when you remove the battery, or, for devices with no removable battery, on the reverse of the device.

The serial number is a unique device identifier which may consist of letters and numbers and which allows the device to be traced back to manufacture. On tablets, the serial number is usually printed or engraved on the reverse. The serial number can also be found on the device packaging. It can be recognised based on the prefix "S/N", "SN", "SNID", "Serial No." or just "Serial". If the device is switched on, it can also be displayed via the software on Android devices and Apple iPads. On Android, you can find it under “Settings” under “About phone”, “Device info”, “Phone info” or similar. If the serial number is still not displayed, press “Status”. On iOS on the iPad, you can find it under “Settings” “General” “Info”.

You can find the frame number of most bicycles either on the seat tube, on the fork head below the handlebars or under the bottom bracket on your bicycle’s frame.

You can submit your termination online via our termination form. In the event of a death, please use our termination in the event of death form to submit your termination or contact us by telephone to transfer your contract. If you would like to terminate your contract for another reason, please use our termination form here in the Customer Portal.

Your can change your address quickly and easily here in the Customer Portal under “My details”. Please note that an address change cannot be used to transfer the contract to another person.

You have the option of submitting your cancellation by post, by e-mail or online using our cancellation forms. In case of death, you can send the termination directly via the online form to wertgarantie.de or arrange for the contract to be taken over. You will find the appropriate form here.

Banking matters

A 1 cent transfer allows us to comply with SEPA regulations. In the transfer information, we inform you of the reassignment of existing direct debit authorisation or inform you in good time of the collection of payment.
Should you be notified that authorisation has been reassigned, you need take no further action. On notification of collection of payment, please ensure that there are sufficient funds in your account. The due date and amount can be found in the transaction information.

Contributions are debited from the account you provided on conclusion of the contract. If you would like to view your bank details, you can do this yourself under "My contracts". You can also change your bank details under "My details".

It’s easy to change your bank details in the “My details” area of the Customer Portal. In future, we will debit your WERTGARANTIE cover contributions from the new bank details you stored. Please note that, due to the SEPA procedure, one final payment may be debited from the bank account currently stored.

Simply provide us with your bank details in the “My details” area of this Customer Portal. This allows us to debit the premium owed and future contributions from the designated bank account.

Damage/theft

Bicycle/e-bike

If your bicycle or e-Bike is defective, WERTGARANTIE shall bear the costs for the contractually agreed risks. In the event of a claim, please contact your trusted retailer from whom you purchased the bicycle or e-Bike you have covered in order to report the damage. The claim shall then be processed quickly and easily. If you have since moved to a new address, you can find all WERTGARANTIE retailers in your area here.

In the event of a claim, we will pay your repairs invoice — with no additional costs for you.

Theft claims are covered by the theft cover in WERTGARANTIE complete cover and WERTGARANTIE theft cover. A condition of coverage is that the bicycle/e-bike is secured to a fixed object using one of the locks set out in the insurance contract. In the event of theft, we shall compensate you in the form of a new bicycle/e-bike of the same type with a value of up to €2000 (€4000 for e-bikes) which is supplied by a WERTGARANTIE retailer. In the event of parts theft, the procurement costs shall be reimbursed.

If your smartphone is defective, you can use our quick, easy-to-use online claims process. Filing and processing your claim are as easy as child’s play. Simply file your claim online and send your defective device to the stated service provider. Authorised technicians will repair it and return your repaired device within approx. 4 working days. We will keep you up to date constantly regarding the processing status of your claim via email and this Customer Portal. Click here to go to online claims processing.

In the event of a claim, we shall take on your repairs invoice with no additional costs for you. For mobile phones and smartphones with a purchase price of €250 and over, there is an excess of €30 per claim.

The theft cover in WERTGARANTIE complete cover covers cases of theft. In the event of a claim, you will receive a share of the cost up to €600. (In devices below €501 and smartphones below €251, the maximum is €300.) If the device covered is stolen, please contact the WERTGARANTIE retailer where you purchased the device or our customer service department on 0511 71280-123. Please keep proof of reporting a criminal offence to the police and the original receipt. For mobile devices, please ensure that the IMEI number is recorded in the criminal offence report and the corresponding proof. You are also obliged to cancel the SIM card stolen along with the device as soon as possible. Proof you have done so is also required.

If your smartphone has been stolen, simply use our quick and easy online theft report. Filing and processing your claim are as easy as child’s play. File the details of the theft and upload the necessary documents - WERTGARANTIE will then check your claim for you. BASIS/COMFORT device cover

If your device is defective, WERTGARANTIE shall bear the costs for the contractually agreed risks. Camera guarantee BASIC/PREMIUM COVER

If your device is defective, WERTGARANTIE shall bear the costs for the contractually agreed risks. In the event of a claim, please contact your trusted retailer from whom you purchased the device you have covered in order to report the damage. The claim shall then be processed quickly and easily. In the event of theft, we shall compensate you with a large amount of the purchase price. You will receive 80% in the first year, 60% in the second year, and as much as 40% in from the third year onwards.

If the device covered is stolen, please contact the WERTGARANTIE retailer where you purchased the device or our customer service department on 0511 71280-123. Please keep proof of reporting a criminal offence to the police and the original receipt.

Complete cover

Our complete cover applies to all new and used devices in the consumer electronics category up to €6000 (mobile telephones and smartphones max. 12 months old and up to €3000). This means you are covered for all kinds of repair costs greatly exceeding the statutory guarantee and immediately on conclusion of the contract. We offer full repair cost compensation for device defects caused by:

  • Electronics damage
  • Water/moisture damage
  • Improper handling
  • Wear/calcification
  • Damage caused by a fall/being dropped
  • Display/panel breakage
  • Consequential damage caused by a device defect
  • Glass ceramic breakage
  • Transport and storage damage
  • Parts and breakage damage

  • Short circuit/surge
  • Blockage/foreign bodies

The WERTGARANTIE new purchase contribution is your cover for when things don’t go to plan. It is only available in the WERTGARANTIE complete cover. If repairs no longer seem reasonable, WERTGARANTIE will contribute a minimum of €150 to the purchase of a new device in the first year of the contract. You therefore already have a safe cushion in the first year of the contract for your new purchase if you require a new device of the same type as a result of a write-off. So you immediately have an attractive new device for unparalleled enjoyment! The new purchase contribution increases by €25 in the second year of the contract for undamaged devices. Each of your insured devices is treated separately — so different amounts can occur over several years and due to possible repairs, even if several devices are insured at the same time. In the event of damage, should the current value exceed the current new purchase contribution, we shall pay a maximum of the current value towards a new purchase. If the costs of the new purchase are less than the new purchase contribution, the difference from your current maximum new purchase contribution available shall remain in your contract.

The new purchase contribution is an alternative to repairs if these are not financially viable or entirely impossible. Receipt of the new purchase contribution is contingent upon a guaranteed (financial) write-off of the device covered by the complete cover.

Private devices which are also used for professional purposes (e.g. as part of an independent profession such as that of an architect, doctor or lawyer) may be covered.

For all household appliances and consumer electronics devices, notebooks and PCs, the complete cover contract runs for 12 months and renews for an additional 12 months if it is not terminated 3 months prior to the end of its term. For mobile telephones, cover runs for a minimum term of 24 months which renews for a year if it is not terminated 3 months prior to the end of its term. After the minimum term of 12/24 months, you may decide how long you require cover for your device. Please note: The older a device is, the more vulnerable it is to needing repairs.

If your complete cover is still valid but the covered device is no longer in your possession, you can replace it in the contract with your current device. As a WERTGARANTIE customer, you can change your device details easily when replacing a device. With just a few clicks here, you can notify us of the change online.

BASIS/COMFORT device cover

Our BASIS/COMFORT device cover can be concluded for all new (max. 12 months old) technical devices, except mobile devices, with a purchase price of up to €5000. On expiry of the statutory guarantee, you then receive an additional 3 years of cover for repair costs caused by material, production and design defects.
With COMFORT device cover, you also receive full repair costs

  • Electronics damage
  • Water/moisture damage
  • Improper handling
  • Damage caused by a fall/being dropped
  • Fire/lightning strike
  • Implosion/explosion
  • The following are also covered up to €300:
  • Robbery/break-in theft

Our device cover is available for all new technical devices except mobile devices. Devices worth up to a maximum of €5000 may be covered by the device cover.

WERTGARANTIE device cover is a fixed-term contract. This is concluded for a time period of 5 years following purchase of the device. The contract shall end in the event of a write-off. For COMFORT device cover, this shall also occur in the event of theft in a robbery/break-in.

No, WERTGARANTIE device cover cannot be transferred, as it is tied to the product. After 5 years it automatically expires. There are therefore no additional costs for unused devices or devices which no longer exist.

If your originally insured device is no longer in your possession, you no longer need to look after your WERTGARANTIE device cover, as it is tied to the product. After 5 years it automatically expires. There are therefore no additional costs.

If the covered device changes owner, the WERTGARANTIE device cover can remain in place, as it is tied to the product. Each person who has legally acquired the device may claim the device cover during the cover period without notification of the change in owner being required first.

Camera guarantee BASIC/PREMIUM COVER

The BASIC/PREMIUM COVER is available for cameras and covers your new device for everyday risks. You are therefore covered against the most frequent sources of damage from the date of application, allowing you to save on repair costs for your device. We guarantee full reimbursement of repair costs in the event of:

  • Electronics damage
  • Water/moisture damage
  • Improper handling
  • Damage caused by a fall/being dropped
  • Fire/lightning strike

We shall also reimburse you the current value of your device in the event of a write-off.

With the PREMIUM COVER, you are also covered against:

  • Mechanical battery defects
  • Material, construction and design defects (following expiry of the statutory guarantee)
  • Theft

Devices used for business purposes can also be covered.

The BASIC/PREMIUM COVER is available for cameras. The maximum value of insurable devices is €3500 in BASIC COVER and €7500 in PREMIUM COVER. Please note that a condition of coverage is that the device may not be more than 12 months old. Mobile phones and smartphones cannot be insured, even if they are expressly used for their camera. Your device is covered from the date stated in the insurance policy. Your device is therefore fully covered from the first day. This is contingent upon the first contribution being paid when due.

The BASIC COVER runs for 24 months and renews for an additional year if it is not terminated 3 months prior to the end of its term. The PREMIUM COVER runs for 36 months and renews for an additional year if it is not terminated 3 months prior to the end of its term. After the minimum terms of 24 and 36 months, you may decide how long you require cover for your device. Please note: The older a device is, the more vulnerable it is to needing repairs. The contractual relationship shall end no later than completion of the fifth year of insurance in any event.

Devices used for business purposes can only benefit from WERTGARANTIE camera guarantee PREMIUM COVER. The BASIC COVER is excluded from this. Business use is when the device to be covered is used to make money or is used an above-average amount. Private devices which are also used for professional purposes (e.g. as part of an independent profession such as that of an architect, doctor or lawyer) may be covered.

WERTGARANTIE complete cover can be taken out for any bicycle up to a value of €3500. E-bikes and Pedelecs are not included in WERTGARANTIE complete cover. However, with the combination of repair cover and theft cover, they can benefit from the same services. Bicycles which are older than 12 months shall be deemed used and insured at their current value.

The complete cover runs for 12 months and renews for an additional year if it is not terminated 3 months prior to the end of its term. After the minimum term of 12 months, you may decide how long you require cover for your bicycle. Please note: The older a bicycle is, the more vulnerable it is to needing repairs.

Your bicycle and/or e-bike is covered from the date stated in the insurance policy. Immediate cover of your bicycle or e-bike is also possible at any time. This is contingent upon the first contribution being paid when due.

Bicycles used for business purposes are not part of the contract and therefore cannot be covered. There is no cover for damage occurring under competitive or training conditions.

WERTGARANTIE complete cover applies within the Federal Republic of Germany and for a period spent abroad of up to 6 weeks without notification. WERTGARANTIE cover is always valid — regardless of the time of day. This means you can enjoy 24 hours of cover, 7 days a week.

If your complete cover is still valid but the covered bicycle is no longer in your possession, you can usually replace it in the contract with your current bicycle. Theft cover

With WERTGARANTIE theft cover, you receive the best possible cover against bicycle theft. In the event of theft, we shall replace your bicycle and/or e-bike with a new one of the same type with a value of up to €2000 (€4000 for e-bikes) which is supplied by a WERTGARANTIE retailer. In the event of parts theft, we shall reimburse you the costs of procuring and installing the parts. The sole condition of coverage is that the bicycle/e-bike is secured to a fixed object using one of the locks set out in the insurance contract.

Battery cover (e-bike)

With WERTGARANTIE battery cover, for €5 a month, you can cover one of the most sensitive and expensive parts of your e-bike against damage - the battery. Your battery will be covered against moisture damage, personal negligence and electronics damage and, from the 7th month on, against wear too. The insurance proceeds are limited to the purchase price of the insured battery.

WERTGARANTIE battery cover can be taken out for all batteries in e-bikes up to a value of €4000. Batteries in e-bikes which are older than 12 months are not covered by battery cover.
